** UPDATE: Congratulations to Jo & Sally for winning! Thanks to all who entered! **
Gungor. It’s a funny word that’s really not a word at all. It’s a name. A last name to be exact. But also the name of a band. Maybe you’ve heard of them…their last album Beautiful Things was just released last year. And now they’re releasing their latest album, Ghosts Upon the Earth. And I was privy to a sneak listen (because I’m so cool like that). And I have to tell you, it. is. amazing.
I was first introduced to Gungor at the Catalyst Conference last year. They stunned everyone in my group. They’re not your typical Christian band — their music is eclectic yet hauntingly beautiful. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s poetic and moving and so downright beautiful.
The thing I love about Gungor is that the mix of untraditional instruments and unexpected voices. Ghosts Upon the Earth features a boy’s choir, six-person string ensemble, seventeen instrument players and four additional vocalists besides Michael & Lisa Gungor (the namesake, obviously).
The album isn’t due to release until September 20, but you, my dear readers, can win one for free now! Just leave a comment below and on Thursday, August 25 I’ll pick two winners. Be sure to leave your email address so I can let you know you won. (Winners will be selected using random.org integer generator.) So go ahead and comment away (one per person please).
And for those who just have to have a Gungor fix right this very second (you know who you are, and I know who you are), you can watch this little video teaser about the album.
